The feedbacks
Feedback from the tutor was quite helpful. The idea of designing with a larger range of testing is a great tip. I’ll be doing more testing with different methods of printing, binding, and making.
Updates
We started to make a prototype of the physical look of our potential outcome. We went to Gordon Harris and restock some of the paper and binding materials.
References in typography
I started to test with different typography and tried to find the best one for both English and Chinese.
I’ve chosen a list of typefaces for body type and title type. For the actual content or, in this case, the graphic (Characters), I am considering crafting myself for better consistency.
Binding & Paper choice
This week, I went to Gordon Harris for some material gathering. I bought some screws and a different set of paper for testing.
I will try to print on them with an inkjet printer and laser printer to test the integrity of the ink and the visual appearances with the different print methods. I might also try some cutouts and paint over with acrylic paint to gain some texture to the paper.
Binding & Paper choice
I printed colours and typefaces on different textured and speciality paper.
