GRAD702 – Week 07

Waves, The building blocks of the Chinese characters

Updates

This week, we have a big presentation ahead of us, so we spent most of the time prepping for that. But also, on Tuesday, we have our first formal prototype section, where we demonstrate our progress so far to other fellow designers.

Class activities

On Monday, we basically spent all of the time crafting the prototype and the presentation. During the Tuesday section, I brought all the testing I’ve to the class, and the feedback was quite positive, which is not good. because polite feedback means I am going nowhere. But after asking, again and again, I got some feedback. I can test the coating with different techniques, such as UV, foil, and resin the words with the tea power I made.

Poster/s

From the suggestions I got last week, I began testing with different layouts of the poster with the prototype symbol. I started by strictly following the grid system, to lest losses and make the graphic all over the place. And the result was quite positive. I am currently using Blender to visualise my idea, and physical print is needed. (I did print the A4 testing, but the result was terrible, maybe something wrong with my printer setting, and I need to concise the testing with tracing paper, those papers are expensive!)

Binding & Paper choice

After talking to the classmate on Tuesday, people seem to like hardcover the most. I’ll need to try with different cover textures and sizes in the following weeks.
